Bandits take over Ekiti where PhD in War Studies governed – PDP attacks Fayemi

The Ekiti State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has lambasted the state governor, Kayode Fayemi, over the bandits taken over the state from him.

Newsflash Nigeria had earlier reported that bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen had killed one person and abduction of five people on Friday along Ewu Ekiti and Aiyetoro Ekiti in Ido Osi Local Government Area of the state.

This incident occurred four days after unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen shot and killed a man named Ademola Afolayan on a poultry farm in Ikere Ekiti.

According to the report gathered by Newsflash Nigeria, the incident occurred on Monday evening, August 2, around 5:00 pm.

Sources said the gunmen, numbering about 5, invaded the poultry farm located at Eselemo Farm, Igbooka area via Akure road, shooting sporadically and in the process, killed Ademola Afolayan.

The two persons have narrowly escaped the incident.

On Tuesday, August 3, 2021, the former Ekiti State chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Clement Adekola, had escaped death after gunmen attacked his vehicle.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday evening, August 3, around 5:00 pm.

In reacting, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State reiterated its call on the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to pay attention to the invasion of the state by armed bandits, saying “it appears that the governor has an accord with the bandits who are daily, killing and kidnapping the people, especially on roads leading to his hometown, Isan Ekiti.”

The party, in its reaction to the killing of one person and abduction of five people along Ewu Ekiti and Aiyetoro Ekiti yesterday, said it was disturbing that in a state being governed by a supposed holder of PhD in War Studies, bandits have taken over everywhere.

According to a statement on Saturday by the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Raphael Adeyanju, the party said “time has come for stakeholders in the State to confront Governor Fayemi and ask him whether or not he has an understanding with these marauding bandits not to touch them.”

The PDP is described as unexplainable, a situation where a particular road has become like a permanent operational base for kidnappers and nothing has been done by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governments both in Abuja and Ado Ekiti.

It was on that same road that a Commissioner in Governor Fayemi’s government, Olabode Folorunso, and a woman were abducted and a councillor in Ilejemeje Local Government killed in April, last year.

On the same road, the traditional ruler of Ewu-Ekiti, Oba Adetutu Ajayi, was shot by bandits on April 10, 2021. Also on June 10, 2021, two hotel workers in Ayetoro-Ekiti were kidnapped while the hotel’s security guard was inflicted with machete cuts.

This week too, bandits numbering about 5, invaded the poultry farm located at Eselemo Farm, Igbooka area via Akure road, shooting sporadically and in the process, killed Ademola Afolayan. The two persons have narrowly escaped the incident.

Also, a former Chairman of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers, Clement Adekola, was attacked by Fulani kidnappers along Ikere Ekiti – Igbara-Odo road. He escaped narrowly, with his vehicle riddled with bullets.

The PDP lamented that it was worrisome that Ekiti State, adjudged the most peaceful state in the Southwest when the party was in power, has now turned into a haven of bandits and political thugs.

The PDP spokesman said; “Rather than jumping from one State to the other to commission projects executed by his fellow governors, why can’t Governor Fayemi face governance in Ekiti and make the State safe for residents and visitors?

“Is the governor waiting for Ekiti State to become another Kaduna or Katsina State before he will perform his major function as a governor by seeing to the safety of the people? Or is his 2023 presidential ambition more important than the lives of Ekiti people?”

  1. Gov Fayemi is a disappointment to the people of the state. He claimed he had P.hD in War Studies but the war has come to his doorsteps and he has no clue. Ever since he started hobnobbing with the Fulani oligarchy in the North over his ambition which can never materialize under the regime, he has become a failure.

  2. I’m not surprised that security situation is fast deteriorating in Ekiti State! Why ? Because Fayemi is a fucking saboteur and a compromiser !!
Remember in January this year, while his Ondo State counterpart Akeredolu, summoned courage to tell Fulani to get out of the Ondo forest, Fayemi was playing a-good boy ( a kind of political correctness).
Fayemi foolishly opened his mouth and condemned Akeredolu’s order and told Fulani, that Ondo is their home. That they can stay; thereby watering down Akeredolu’s order thus, making Governor Akeredolu a bad man who hated Fulani herdsman to the eyes of the Sultan, Buhari/cabals and all the Fulani cult groups. The bewildered Akeredolu was so surprised of the cold water poured on him by his Yoruba brother (Fayemi) that he could not do anything but to rescind his order.
Akeredolu in effect, was lambasted by the Fulanis in Aso rock and was issued a warning to be careful.
