Miracle at the Government House: Peace Corps Rescues Abandoned Baby

In a heart-wrenching discovery, an abandoned baby, of unknown age, was found at the entrance of the Government House in Ado-Ekiti by a vigilant official from the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN), Ekiti State Command. The unfolding incident took place in the Fajuyi area, leaving eyewitnesses astounded by the mysterious circumstances surrounding the child’s abandonment.

Wrapped in a cloth, the baby’s cries, echoing loudly at around 8 pm on a Sunday, captured the attention of onlookers, who, guided by a PCN officer, traced the source to the Government House entrance. Eyewitnesses, choosing anonymity, suggested that an unidentified person might have left the baby at this unlikely location.

Commandant Patriot Mathew Okotie of the Peace Corps, Ekiti Command, confirmed the incident to journalists, narrating how his officer discovered the abandoned baby along Bank Road in the Fajuyi area. Following the rescue, the baby was swiftly transported to the police headquarters on New Iyin Road and later transferred to the police clinic at Okesa for immediate care.

Notably, Okotie revealed that the baby, after initial treatment, was referred to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) for comprehensive medical attention and proper documentation. This miraculous intervention by the Peace Corps sheds light on the compassionate response to an unforeseen crisis and underscores the importance of community vigilance in safeguarding the vulnerable.
