VIDEO: Soldiers beg to loot peacefully as residents invade COVID-19 palliative warehouse

There was drama on Friday evening as Military personnel begged the hoodlums who invaded a warehouse where COVID-19 palliatives are kept in Ilorin, the state capital, Newsflash247 reports.

The warehouse, located around the Ilorin International Airport, opposite Oando filling station, is believed to be owned by the Kwara State government.

After the residents gained entrance into the warehouse housing food items stored, they carted some COVID-19 palliatives.

Video footages and pictures obtained by Newsflash247 show that the military personnel begged the people who were stealing food items like noodles, spaghetti, rice, sugar and garri not to destroyed properties.

People used motorcycles and buses to transport looted items from the warehouse to their respective homes.

According to one of the people at the scene who spoke to newsmen, they believe the government will not eventually share the palliatives to people but want to keep them till 2023 as campaign materials.

“We thank God for this discovery. Could you imagine these politicians hiding these food items meant for distribution to the poor masses during the COVID-19 pandemics,” he said

This comes a day after a similar incident occurred in Lagos and a few hours after the same happened in Osun State.

Telephone calls put across to the spokespersons of the Kwara State Governor and the police command in the state was not immediately responded to.

Newsflash247 had earlier reported that there was pandemonium Saturday afternoon as hoodlums invaded the houses of Senator Gershom Bassey, Senator Southern Senatorial District and former Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba who represented Cross River Central Senatorial District at the Senate.

It was learned both houses situated at Asari Esor Layout in Calabar Municipality LGA were on Saturday afternoon invaded and house hold items including chairs, TV, chairs and toilet seats, car batteries were carted away.

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the hoodlums overpowered the security personnel protecting the houses and carted away with valuables while leaving the houses as empty.

Other properties including a lounge (Bulavard) reportedly owned by Hillard Eta, APC stalwarts were vandalised and another filling allegedly owned by Governor Ben Ayade was also destroyed.

Newsflash247 had earlier reported that the hoodlums have invaded the residence of Teslim Folarin, the senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial district.

The mostly angry youth looted several new motorcycles (Okadas) at the Oluyole home of the lawmaker. Other materials carted away are freezers, grinding machines and other valuables.

Newsflash247 reported how the homes of various government officials have been looted in the last 48 hours.

Earlier today, some hoodlums looted materials at the home of a former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuff, in Osun State.

The Iwo Local Government Secretariat was also set ablaze. Newsflash247 efforts to reach Mr Folarin proved abortive as close associate who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said the senator is out of the country
