Sunday Igboho: What I told Buhari in Aso Villa – Gov Makinde

“I asked for greater synergy between the state and federal security agencies. Also, I requested collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service for proper documentation of foreign nationals working in mines in the state. Mr President promised to look into these issues,”Makinde said

Following the Fulani herdsmen crisis in the Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State, the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, met with the President Muhammadu Buhari, in Aso Villa, Abuja.

Recall that a Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemi, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Friday, January 22, stormed the town in Ibarapa East local government area of Oyo state after the expiration his seven-day ultimatum to the Fulani herders mandating them to vacate the community.

Newsflash recalled that the secessionist had a week ago visited the community to issue quit notice to herdsmen residents in the area after accusing them of perpetrating criminal activities.

He was reportedly said to have insisted that Seriki, a popular herder, must leave the town, saying so many people fingered him to be behind the insecurity in the area.

But Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, met with the President Muhammadu Buhari, in Aso Villa, Abuja.

Giving an update at the end of the meeting, the governor said he sought the collaboration of the Federal Government to effectively tackle the security challenges in the state.

Makinde said, “This afternoon, I met with His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari to brief him on the security situation in Oyo State and seek collaborations required for some of our intended security plans to work effectively.

“I asked for greater synergy between the state and federal security agencies. Also, I requested collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service for proper documentation of foreign nationals working in mines in the state. Mr President promised to look into these issues.”
