VIDEO: Police arrest Fulani man with 200 rounds of ammunition on ‘Okada’

The Joint Task Force of Police and FRSC have arrested a Fulani man with 200 rounds of ammunition on a motorcycle, otherwise as okada at Alushi junction, Akwanga, Nasarawa State.

It was gathered that the Fulani herder identifies as Likita was on a motorcycle with 53 AK-47 Magazine Guns and over 200 rounds of live ammunitions heading to Jos, Plateau State.

According to the source said the Akwanga Police Joint Taskforce with FRSC Akwanga Unit, on Saturday intercepted one Fulani herder with the name Likita on a motorcycle with over 200 rounds of ammunitions heading to Jos, as confessed by him.

Other members of his gang numbering six are already on their way to Jos via, Motorcycles, says Likita.

As of the time of filing this report, Likita is currently being detained, at the Akwanga Police Divisional Headquarter, Nasarawa state.

Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Police Command says it has arrested a 35-year-old man, Abubakar Likita, who was conveying 53 AK-47 Magazine Guns and 260 rounds of live ammunition to an unknown destination in the state.

Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa State Capital.

He explained that a team of police officers on patrol intercepted the man at Akwanga Local Government Area of the state while he was conveying the weapons and got him arrested.

“A suspected criminal who has been on the wanted list of the Nasarawa State Police Command for offences ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping was sighted today at Alushi Junction, Akwanga LGA.

 “A detachment of police operatives attached to Akwanga Division were immediately deployed to the area and one Likita Abubakar, a 35-year-old man was arrested and we were able to recover 53 empty magazines, 260 rounds of live ammunition and cash sum of N38,500 as exhibits,” he said.

The PPRO also disclosed that a Toyata Camry vehicle with registration number ABUJA RBU 267 EU which was stolen in New Nyanya, Karu LGA of the state has been recovered by officers of the command.

“A detachment of Police detectives attached to New Karu Division swung into action and were able to trace the vehicle to Kafanchan area in Kaduna State where we arrested one Emmanuel Adakole Onyilo who was in possession of the vehicle and he has confessed to the crime,” he said.

Newsflash Nigeria had reported that a convoy of buses was attacked at Rukuba Road in Jos North Local Government Area last Saturday.

More than twenty persons were killed and dozens wounded. The victims were returning from Bauchi to Akure, the Ondo capital.

The Police has deployed additional assets to Plateau to restore law and order amid fears of reprisals.
