Alex Otti Gets Reprieve as Appeal Court Suspends Judgment Sacking Him as Abia Governor-Elect

The Court of Appeal in Kano has granted a reprieve to Alex Otti, the Labour Party (LP) candidate who was declared the winner of the Abia governorship election on March 18, 2023.

 The court suspended the judgment of a Federal High Court in Kano that nullified the primaries that produced Otti and other LP candidates in Abia State.

The court also granted Otti’s application to appeal as an interested party against the lower court’s judgment.

The order was made on Saturday by Justice Mbaba following a motion filed by Otti, who had challenged the judgment delivered by Justice Yunusa J. of the Federal High Court in Kano on May 18, 2023, in Suit No. FHC/KN/CS/107/2023.
