Lekki shooting: Don’t cover up your crimes – Fani-Kayode attacks Tinubu

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has attacked the former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, over his comments on the Lekki toll gate protesters, who were shot at by uniformed men.

The National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had asked the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on who ordered the shooting of protesters at Lekki tollgate in Lagos on Tuesday, during visited the governor in office on Saturday.

He also questioned why the #EndSARS protesters were at the toll gate at the time of the incident on Tuesday, October 20.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Tinubu said: “if he didn’t order the attack, who ordered the attack? That’s all I needed from him.”

The National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had also called for a thorough investigation into the attack.

He added: “First, we have to segregate the calendar – those who suffered casualty before the protests from the hands of SARS.

“You have to separate that from those who suffered casualty due to what happened at the toll gate.

“For those who suffered casualty from SARS, the Commission of Inquiry that is already set up will unearth that and will make their recommendations.

“I trust the calibre and the character of the people there, they are independent. That is one.”

However, Fani-Kayode in a Facebook post on Sunday labelled them “stupid questions and baseless accusations”.

He also claimed Tinubu was trying to cover up the “horrendous crimes”.

“How cruel can you be? Not a word of condolence or expression of commiseration to the families of the dead but instead you offered stupid questions and baseless accusations against their wards and children who were butchered in the most brutal circumstances and heartless manner,” Fani-Kayode wrote.

He added that Tinubu was attempting to blame the protesters for being shot to death by “a bunch of genocidal maniacs in uniform who subjected them to crimes against humanity, genocide and mass murder.

“You seek to cover up these horrendous crimes and you are attempting to dishonour and denigrate the dead and desecrate and mock the great sacrifice of these courageous young martyrs for democracy who were murdered in cold blood on the front lines in the field of battle?”
