Kano Gov Rerun – PDP governorship candidate confident of victory

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed confidence he will emerge victorious in the forthcoming governorship re-run in the state.

The PDP governorship, according to Daily Trust, made this known is a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

He said: “The people of Kano have seen glaringly, how some enemies of democracy who are ranking officials in Kano state government including deputy governor, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, commissioner for local government, Murtala Sule Garo and chairman of Nasarawa local government, Alhaji Lamin Sani vandalised an election collation centre, resulting to truncating the declaration of the result to deny PDP victory.”

The Kano PDP guber candidate further alleged that the Kano state printing press printed 500 ballot papers and syndicated them to various polling units across the state, adding that the police intercepted 10 cartons out the printed ballot papers.

“It is our prayer that all election offenders will be charged to courts at the earliest time to serve as deterrent to anti-democracy persons,” he said.

He urged all the PDP supporters in the state to remain calm adding that the party was on the verge of forming the next government in Kano state.

He urged the electorate in the areas where re-run will take place to come out in large numbers and vote for PDP during the conduct of the re-run elections.

He said: “Our supporters should not forget that PDP is already leading in the last count of election, the by-election will take place in PDP’s strongholds. Everyone should keep hope of victory.”

Meanwhile, Newsflash247 previously reported that the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, called on the people of the state and Nigerians at large to be calm and allow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to properly finish its assignment, concerning the inconclusive gubernatorial polls in some states.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, March 12, at his palace, Emir Sanusi said only the electoral commission has the power to conduct and announce the results of election and should be allowed to carry out its task.

Sanusi said INEC had already announced that the election held in Kano on Saturday, March 9, was inconclusive because there are still some polling units where the exercise would be re-conducted and it was after that the winner would be declared.
