JAMB 2024/2025 UTME Registration Opens with Enhanced Security, Increased Capacity, and Regional Focus

Aspiring tertiary students, rejoice! The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially launched registration for the 2024/2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), paving the path for countless dreams to blossom. From today, January 15th, 2024, until February 24th, 2024, hopeful individuals across Nigeria can embark on this momentous journey towards higher education.

JAMB Registrar Ishaq Oloyede assures future scholars of a streamlined process, declaring, “We have implemented robust measures to guarantee a seamless registration exercise.” His commitment echoes the Board’s unwavering dedication to creating a fair and efficient platform for young Nigerians to access their academic aspirations.

Prior to the launch, JAMB meticulously conducted thorough accreditation procedures. A dedicated team, comprising seasoned Chief External Examiners, Technical Advisors, state coordinators, and JAMB’s own technical specialists, meticulously evaluated each Computer-Based Test (CBT) center across the nation. This rigorous vetting ensures that only the most suitable facilities, equipped with cutting-edge technology and adhering to stringent security protocols, will host the critical examinations.

Oloyede underscored the crucial step of profile creation, emphasizing the need for all candidates to use their National Identity Number (NIN) at any designated CBT center. To initiate this vital step, aspiring students can generate their profile codes with ease using either JAMB USS codes 55019 or 66019. However, utmost caution is advised; the registrar stressed the importance of utilizing only one code to avoid unnecessary charges.

This essential process serves as a unique verification tool, utilizing thumbprinting technology to solidify a candidate’s registration. Remember, it’s the gateway to your academic pursuit, so follow the procedure diligently!

JAMB also proudly announces the implementation of a cashless payment system for the N3,500 registration fee. This proactive measure effectively eliminates any potential for malpractices, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the registration process.

Furthermore, JAMB has significantly expanded its infrastructure for the 2024 UTME, accrediting a total of 747 CBT centers nationwide. This impressive figure marks a notable rise from the 613 centers approved in 2023, representing a growth of 134.

The increased availability of testing facilities promises greater accessibility for students across the country, alleviating logistical burdens and ensuring a more equitable experience for all.

A closer look at the distribution of these centers reveals interesting regional trends. Lagos continues to reign supreme, boasting 80, followed by Ogun with 44 and Oyo with 42. In contrast, Zamfara has the lowest number at 6, with Ebonyi and Kebbi trailing close behind with 8 each.

An analysis by Newsflash Nigeria demonstrates a geographical disparity, with the South-West holding the highest concentration of CBT centers at 226, while the North-East lags behind with a mere 67.

This disparity highlights the ongoing need for JAMB and relevant stakeholders to bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable access to quality education nationwide.

The opening of JAMB 2024/2025 UTME registration signifies a pivotal moment for countless students dreaming of a brighter future. With enhanced security, improved infrastructure, and a regional focus on increasing accessibility, JAMB’s commitment to fairness and efficiency provides a promising foundation for aspiring scholars to chase their academic goals. Remember, the journey to achieving your dreams begins today. So, take the first step with confidence and navigate the registration process with meticulous care. Success awaits!
