Ekiti Govt Exposes Fake Website That Promises Federal Palliative Funds to Residents

The Ekiti State Government has warned the public to be wary of a fraudulent website that is soliciting personal details from residents of the state in exchange for federal palliative funds.

The website, which has the URL https://lnkshk-5bns-naira-ekiti-state-palliative, is a scam designed to swindle unsuspecting and innocent people.

The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, issued a statement on Thursday, August 24, 2023, distancing the state government from the website.

He said that the website was not authorized by the state government and that it had nothing to do with the distribution of palliatives in the state.

Olatunbosun advised the public to refrain from entering their personal details into the website, as they could be exploited by the criminals behind it for fraudulent transactions.

He said that the beneficiaries of the government’s palliatives in Ekiti are not required to visit any websites.

The statement read: “It has come to the notice of the Government of Ekiti State that some fraudsters masquerading as agents of the State have placed advertisements in some online platforms asking unsuspecting members of the public to apply for the N5 billion Federal Government palliative funds.

“The Ekiti State Government hereby unequivocally disowns all online and any other form of advertisements requesting for applications to benefit from the palliative funds.

“The good people of the State are therefore advised to ignore all unauthorized advertisements purportedly placed on behalf of the State Government.

“The Government has its official channels of communicating its decisions to the Public. Members of the public are also urged to contact the Office of the State Commissioner for information for clarifications and enquiries”.

The Ekiti State Government is committed to ensuring the welfare and security of its citizens and will not tolerate any attempt to defraud them or tarnish its reputation. The public is advised to report any suspicious activities or websites to the appropriate authorities.
