COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY, IJERO EKITI, NIGERIA.

PRESS RELEASE

Friday, June 29, 2018.

DISCLAIMER.
The attention of the Management of College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti, Nigeria has been drawn to an advertorial made on daily basis on 89.9 Voice FM Radio in which the announcers claimed that the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti staff and students were solidly behind the APC gubernatorial candidate in Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.

The advertorial which was credited to a faceless person or group of persons called “concerned workers” did not emanate from the College Community and did not represent the opinion, view, and decision of staff and students of the College Community. The organized staff unions in the College are Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP), Non-Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (NASUP) while students have an accredited association called Students Union. Whereas, the advertorial under reference did not emanate from any of the accredited groups hence lacks credibility and should be disregarded. “We are disclaiming the advertorial in totality”, the Provost said.

In a statement issued from the Office of the Provost of the Ekiti State College, Pastor Dr. Bayo Ojo, the College Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students condemned in all its entirety the advertorial believed to have been a product of yellow journalism and unethical broadcasting.

The Provost challenged the Management of the Radio Station to publish the real names and photographs of their clients who came underground, under a shady deal to patronize the radio with the advertorial within 48 hours of this Press Release, otherwise, the College Authority would petition the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The Provost said that on same radio, the attention of the Management has been drawn to two faceless and rough e-rats and internet fraudsters who call themselves Sharon Sharon and Isawuru Isawuru who sometimes referred themselves as students and some other times would claim they’re staff. The Provost said that on several occasions, the two e-rats have constituted themselves a nuisance by conducting media trial of the Provost on frivolous and baseless allegations perhaps in order to promote their own political interest only in a dirty manner.

Moreover, the Provost said that no persons are bearing Sharon Sharon and Isawuru Isawuru among all the staff and students of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti, Nigeria and no persons would ever claim to be so, moreso that Isawuru means water snail.

Pastor Bayo Ojo also said further that ever since the unguarded utterances of Dr. Kayode Fayemi at Ijero Ekiti on June 18, 2018, in which he arrogantly said that those who knew him should tell him that his punishment would be severe, some unidentified people in vehicles suspected to be assassins had been trailing him and on one occasion came to the College gate but left in a jiffy when they discovered that they were being suspected.

The Provost said that as an indigene of Erijiyan Ekiti he was sensitive to the unguarded statement of Fayemi against him as he was reminded of the killing of 2 prominent indigenes of Erijiyan Ekiti, Madam Julianah Adewumi and Ayo Jeje during Fayemi regime by assassins and hereby cry out to Nigerians that Fayemi should undertake the security of his (Bayo Ojo’s) life.
