Ekiti 2022: Fayose’s ally, Deji Ogunsakin picks PDP governorship nomination form

The 2018 Deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Deji Ogunsakin, on Monday, October 11, obtained the expression of interest form and the nomination form ahead of the June 18, 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State.

The former Ado Local government chairman stormed the party National Headquarters in Abuja in the early hours of Monday to obtain the form.

Ogunsakin makes the sixth aspirant obtaining the form.

The former LG boss hails from Ado Ekiti,  Ado local government area, Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

Ogunsakin was one of the followers of the former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose.

Ogunsakin spoke after obtaining his governorship form, he said “I remain with the position of my leader, Former Governor Ayo Fayose and above all the endorsement of Otunba Bisi Kolawole of the Fayose- Osoko PDP political family.

“The purpose of collecting the form is to enhance  my political future and relevance and not to rock the boat

 “Afterwards, majority of the aspirants that have obtained the form knows they are going nowhere because there will be only one candidate/Governor, rather they are only seeking relevance.

“It’s worthy of note that I have the consent of our leader, HE. Ayo Fayose and our group’s adopted candidate Otunba Bisi Kolawole and my constituency before I obtained the form.

“Without any ambiguity Where Fayose stands is where I stand because I am not a betrayer of trust.

“The decision of the Osoko political family is final.

“In conclusion, I wish my brother Otunba Bisi Kolawole success in this contest”.

Newsflash Nigeria had reported that five of the aspirants had obtained the forms. They are former governor of the state, Segun Oni; immediate past PDP State chairman, Bisi Kolawole,  Repositioning group candidate, Lateef Ajijola, the former General Manager of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Kayode Adaramodu and the national treasurer of the party, Wale Aribasala.

Oni obtained the form on Wednesday, September 22 at the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja while Lateef Ajijola obtained their own on Thursday, September 23. Bisi Kolawole had obtained the form on Friday, September 24, Kayode Adaramodu also obtained their own form on Friday, September 30 and Wale Aribisala obtained the form on Thursday, October 7.

The forms were sold at N21million made up of N1million for expression of interest and N20million for the nomination form.

Meanwhile, the sale of its expression of interest and nomination forms for the Ekiti governorship election will be close on Thursday, October 14.
