Ekiti 2022: Bisi Kolawole picks N21m PDP Guber nomination form

The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Otunba Bisi Kolawole, on Friday, September 24, obtained the Expression of interest form and the Nomination form ahead of the June 18, 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State.

The chairman stormed the party National Headquarters in Abuja at the early hours of Friday to obtain the form.

Kolawole was represented by his campaign Director General (DG), Hon Segun Adekola and two other former House of Representatives members, Hon Kehinde Agboola, Hon Ayo Oladimeji as well as the campaign Director of Media and Publicity, Lere Olayinka and Hon Ariyo Afolabi.

Kolawole makes the third aspirant obtaining the form.

Newsflash Nigeria had reported that two of the aspirants, Segun Oni, former governor of the state and Lateef Ajijola had obtained the Expression of Interest (EoI) and Nomination Forms.

Oni obtained the form on Wednesday, September 22 at the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) National Headquarters in Abuja while Lateef Ajijola also obtained their own on Thursday, September 23.

The price for the nomination form has been pegged for N20 million and the expression of interest form will go for N1 million for the governorship aspirants.

Recall that the Efon Alaaye born politician was endorsed by the Fayose group, otherwise known as Osoko People’s Assembly (OPA) as his preferred candidate of the group.

Kolawole, from Efon Alaaye in the Ekiti Central Senatorial District, was a former House of Assembly member from 2007 to 2011 and Commissioner for Environment under the administration of Fayose between 2015 and 2018.

The Campaign Director of Media and Publicity said in a statement that Hon. Adekola described Ekiti as a “PDP State that was snatched at gunpoint by those with no love for the State.”

He said; “Our journey to regain Ekiti State has started formally and with God and the people of on our side, by this time next year, Otunba Bisi Kolawole will be addressed as Ekiti State Governor-Elect.

“For us in the campaign team of Bisi Kolawole, we are sure of getting the party ticket and are already looking forward to the election in July next year.

“It is therefore a promise from us that a Bisi Kolawole governorship will return Ekiti to that path of progress and development that the State was robbed of in 2018.”

While commending Fayose for his support and commitment to the Bisi Kolawole governorship aspiration, the Campaign Director-General said

“For the love, they have for Fayose, the people of Ekiti can not wait to use their votes to deliver the state for the PDP and Kolawole.”

Meanwhile, Otunba Bisi Kolawole had resigned from his position of  the State chairman of the party on Thursday.

Kolawole, in a letter dated September 23 and was cited by Newsflash Nigeria in Ado Ekiti on Thursday and addressed to the acting national chairman of the PDP, said that he resigned for pursuing his governorship ambition.

The letter which was titled “Letter of Resignation” was copied to the state publicity secretary of the party, the chairman of the party in Efon Local Government Area and his ward chairman.

The chairman handover to the Deputy Chairman of the party, Hon Lanre Omolase, popularly known as Molar, to act as acting state chairman of the party.
