Edo Poll: Oshiomhole Wants Godfatherism In Edo – Fayemi’s aide Kicks Against Ize-Iyamu

Fayemi’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Segun Dele Dipe, posted on his Facebook timeline asking if the former National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole was not also trying to turn himself to a godfather in Edo State by supporting the same Ize-Iyamu that he called a thief in 2016.

Ahead of the Edo governorship election, scheduled for September 19, the Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, may have tactically declared that he is opposed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

On Friday, governor Fayemi’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Segun Dele Dipe, posted on his Facebook timeline asking if the former National Chairman of APC,  Adams Oshiomhole was not also trying to turn himself to a godfather in Edo State by supporting the same Ize-Iyamu that he called a thief in 2016.

Oshiomhole is seen as the one behind the ambition of Ize-Iyamu, owing to his fallout with Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is now the candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He wrote; “Oshiomhole hates Godfatherism.

“2016: He chased Ize-Iyamu away from APC, imposed Obaseki as governor, because, according to him, Ize-Iyamu was a thief and a cultist.

“2020: He has brought Ize-Iyamu back to APC to make him governor, chased Obaseki out of APC, because, according to him, Obaseki is a thief, an ingrate and a stranger.

“Yet, Oshiomhole hates Godfatherism.

“What is Oshiomhole?”

It should be noted that Governor Fayemi was among those who plotted Oshiomhole’s removal as APC national chairman.

Ekiti State Chairman of APC, Paul Omotosho was among those who went to court against Oshiomhole.

Meanwhile, the President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, August 7, handed over the All Progressives Congress, APC flag to the party’s Governorship Candidate in Edo State, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, in Abuja.

Chairman of APC Caretaker Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni, led Ize-Iyamu to the meeting.

Others on the entourage of the party candidate are Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Kebbi State Atiku Bagudu and his Kano counterpart, Abdulahi Ganduje.

Although it was rumoured that the National leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will be part of the delegation, as at the time of filing this report, the former Lagos State Governor was yet to be sighted at the seat of power.

It was reliably gathered that the party came to present the APC governorship candidate to the President for his endorsement and support for the forthcoming elections.

It was further gathered that the party wants President Buhari to be part of the campaign to give more acceptability to it.

The Chairman Caretaker Committee of APC, Mai Malla Buni said that President Muhammadu Buhari has endorsed the governorship candidate of the party in the September 19 elections, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Buni, who stated this while briefing State House correspondents after presenting the APC candidate to the President said that Buhari gave his blessings to the candidate.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu at the briefing debunked the allegation that 14 members-elect of the Edo State House of Assembly sat in his house on Thursday to impeach the Speaker of the House and elect a new one.

He said: “Let me debunk the statement that 17 members of the State House of Assembly sat in my sitting room, it is not true.”

He also said that there was no truth in the insinuations that President Buhari did not want to see him, alleging that it was a falsehood being spread by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Also speaking, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State described his Edo State counterpart and candidate of the PDP in the September elections, Godwin Obaseki, as a liability to the PDP.

“I can assure you that Governor Obaseki is a liability to the PDP. I can assure you that we are contesting against a governor who failed most woefully.”
