Buruji Kashamu evaded justice but couldn’t beat death – Obasanjo

The former Nigeria’s President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has condoled with Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, on the death of the former Senator and businessman, Buruji Kashamu.

In a condolence letter to Governor Abiodun by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo said the death of the PDP stalwart was sad but noted the life and history of the departed have lessons for those on this side of the veil.

Kashamu, who represented Ogun East at the Senate in the 8th National Assembly and contested the gubernatorial ticket of the state on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with Governor Abiodun, died in a hospital in Lagos on Saturday of COVID-19 complications.

According to the former President: “Senator Esho Jinadu (Buruji Kashmu) in his lifetime used the maneuver of law and politics to escape from facing justice on alleged criminal offence in Nigeria and outside Nigeria.

“But no legal, political, cultural, social or even medical maneuver could stop the cold hand of death when the Creator of all of us decides that the time is up.

“May Allah forgive his sin and accept his soul into Aljanah, and may God grant his family and friends fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
