BREAKING: Prophet T.B. Joshua, is dead

A frontline Nigerian preacher and televangelist, Temitope Balogun Joshua is died.

T.B Joshua, the founder of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), died in Lagos on Saturday evening shortly after concluding a programme at his church.

Newsflash Nigeria learnt from family sources who did not want to be quoted as an official statement was still being prepared. He was 57.

The cause of death was not immediately disclosed to Newsflash Nigeria, but family sources said his remains had been deposited at the morgue and an autopsy would be performed forthwith.

Mr Joshua reigned for several decades as a fiery preacher on television, using his platform to attract a large number of Christians from across the world.

Emmanuel TV, run by Mr Joshua’s SCOAN, is one of Nigeria’s largest Christian broadcast stations, available worldwide via digital and terrestrial switches.

In 2014, his church was at the centre of a multi-national investigation following a section of his church headquarters in Lagos collapsed, leaving dozens killed and many more injured.

Mr Joshua denied allegations of negligence and a trial over the incident was still underway prior to his demise.

A former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, a friend of TB Joshua has also confirmed the incident.

Fani- Kayode, a friend of the preacher who had earlier said the report of the Prophet’s death was fake news confirmed the death in a follow-up tweet.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain said TB Joshua’s daughter confirmed the death to him, adding that he is in pain.

He wrote, ”The passing of my brother TB Joshua saddens me deeply. At 3.00 am this morning, I was told by one of his daughters that this was fake news & I tweeted as much.

”Sadly, I was misled. 5 minutes ago the same person called me & confirmed the story. @GazetteNGR was right & I am in pain.”

Also, Media Mogul, Dele Momodu tweeted, Good night my very dear friend and brother, Pastor Temitope, Balogun. Rest in Peace.”

Meanwhile, the church management confirmed his death in a statement issued on Sunday.

According to the statement, Joshua, aged 57, died on Saturday.

“On Saturday 5th June 2021, Prophet TB Joshua spoke during the Emmanuel TV Partners Meeting: ‘Time for everything – time to come here for prayer and time to return home after the service’,” the statement said.

“God has taken His servant Prophet TB Joshua home – as it should be by divine will. His last moments on earth were spent in the service of God. This is what he was born for, lived for and died for.

“As Prophet TB Joshua says, “The greatest way to use life is to spend it on something that will outlive it”.

 “Prophet TB Joshua leaves a legacy of service and sacrifice to God’s Kingdom that is living for generations yet unborn.

“The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations and Emmanuel TV Family appreciate your love, prayers and concern at this time and request a time of privacy for the family.

“Here are Prophet TB Joshua’s last words: ‘Watch and pray’”.

Joshua has been the subject of several controversies over the years. He claims to work miracles, including raising the dead and healing the sick.

In September 2014, a section of his church located at Ikotun-Egbe area of Lagos state collapsed leaving over a hundred people dead and several others injured.
