Wike Visits APC Chairman Ganduje Ahead of Ministerial Appointment
The minister-designate and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, paid a courtesy visit to the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, on Tuesday.
The meeting took place at Ganduje’s residence in Abuja, according to a tweet by Wike’s close associate, @TopboyChriss.
Wike, who is a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as one of his ministers.
He was screened and cleared by the Senate two weeks ago for the ministerial position. Wike is expected to be sworn in soon by the president.
Wike has been seen as a loyalist of Tinubu, who supported him during the presidential election. Wike refused to work with PDP’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and instead campaigned for Tinubu.
Wike’s visit to Ganduje may be seen as a sign of his commitment to work with the APC-led government and foster national unity.
