Gunmen kidnap two wives, son of Taraba Monarch
Unknown gunmen on Friday night attacked the residence of Chief of Sarkin kudu in Taraba State, HRM Dansalama Adamu, and kidnapped his two wives and a son.
The incident occurred at midnight when the gunmen suspected to be kidnappers broke into the monarch’s palace in Ibbi Local Government Area and took away his two wives and a son to an unknown destination there was no contact between the kidnappers and the family yet.
It was gathered that the monarch had traveled out of his chiefdom when the kidnappers attacked his palace.
This comes barely three weeks after some gunmen abducted two wives and five children of the Chief of Mutum-Biyu and later murdered them in the state.
Family sources said the armed men invaded the traditional ruler’s residents on Friday night in Serkin Kudu when he was out of the house.
According to sources, the gunmen in their numbers shoot sporadically before carrying the victims away to an unknown destination.
“The gunmen are yet to establish contact with anybody. We pray for the safety of the victims. For now, they have not contacted us so we can’t talk about how much they are demanding ransom.
“None of the victim’s phone numbers is going through, but we are trusting God for their safety,” one of the family members said.
Confirming the incident to Daily Trust, the Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Usman Abdullahi, said some suspects had been arrested in connection with the abduction.
According to the police spokesperson, efforts to rescue the monarch’s abducted family members were ongoing.
He added that the suspects arrested have provided useful information to the police which could lead to the rescue of the kidnapped victims.
