WhatsApp’s New Feature Allow To View Past Participants Of Groups To Active Members

WhatsApp, one of the Meta-owned platforms will roll out new features called “View Past Participants” that allow former participants of a particular group to be viewed in the group’s members list.

The new features promote a better user experience. It is aiming to improve the experience of the users and the platform is coming up with brand new features.

Recently, the messaging platform rolled out another feature that gave a special power to group admins to delete any chat in the group and the feature is being liked by users as it helps them to discard unwanted messages in the group.

But this new feature allows the participants in the group to see who all were a part of the particular group.

WhatsApp also wants to protect the privacy of the users so it is introducing features that work in favour of all the WhatsApp users.

As per the latest updates, the View Past Participants feature is spotted in one of the beta versions of the app.

NEWSFLASH NIGERIA revealed that WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow former participants of a particular group to be viewed in the group’s members list.

The feature was spotted on the Android version (beta) of the messaging app v2.22.12.4. Surprisingly this version is available on the Google Play Store but the feature hasn’t been enabled for all, only a few internal testers

WhatsApp is also working on another feature that allows the participants to exit from a group without notifying anyone about it. However, the View Past Participants feature defeats the entire purpose.

Since the feature will allow everyone to see who was a part of the group, the participants in the group will figure out who all left the chat.

View Past Participants WhatsApp Feature: How To Use

Here are a few steps that the users need to follow to operate View Past Participants option on WhatsApp:

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your mobile or computer.

Step 2: Click on the Profile Section of any group.

Step 3: The View Past Participants option will be available at the bottom.

Step 4: Click on the option to see who has left the group earlier.

It is to be noted that WhatsApp has not informed clearly if the option will just show the name or also show the number of the person. WhatsApp users should also note that the View Past Participants feature has not been activated yet.

The users will be informed once WhatsApp decides to officially roll out the new feature.

NEWSFLASH NIGERIA understands that WhatsApp increases the participant limit in a Group Chat from 256 to 512 people.

In 2017, messaging platform WhatsApp increased the number of participants in a group chat to 256.

However, a lot of organizations that use the platform to talk to their colleagues found the number frustrating.

The limit has forced management with thousands of members to spread the resources thin. It made them create and manage multiple groups.

Now, that setting will change as the Meta-owned platform gets an update that will double the number of participants in each group.

On May 5, the WhatsApp blog announced a series of features rolling out on the service. This includes expanding the group chat sizes.

WhatsApp users will be able to add up to 512 people to a group. The feature is now available.

It is still far from the 200,000 participant limit available to Telegram users through supergroups, but it is a welcome improvement.
