Gov Masari reveals identities of Bandits terrorising Katsina

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has alleged that killer bandits terrorising his state are from neighbouring Zamfara State.

He made this known while speaking to newsmen at his home in Kafur area of Katsina State.

According to Masari, the local governments that share boundaries with Zamfara are now danger zones.

While calling for the bandits to be dealt with, the Zamfara governor said their activities are truncating his administration’s effort to restore normalcy in Katsina.

He said: “The nefarious activities of bandits from Zamfara had truncated the efforts of my administration in restoring normalcy in the state.

“The only places that we are having problems are Faskari, Sabwa, and Dandume local governments, but all other local governments in the state, especially Jibia, Batsari, Safana and Danmusa there is relative peace.

“From the reports I receive every morning, if you find any case of rustling or kidnapping, it is mostly around Faskari, Sabwa, and Dandume. We have been complaining to the military authority to take full control of Gurbi, Gidan, Jaja, Kaura-Namoda areas of Zamfara state.

“Unless security is fully reinforced in these areas, being the danger zone where most of the bandits live and move freely, we cannot secure Katsina without security in Zamfara, because 99 percent of all the attacks and kidnappings happening in Katsina were from Zamfara.”

Meanwhile, Governor Aminu Masari revealed that synergy between Nigerian Army, Air Force and other security agencies is the only way to end banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other criminalities in the country.

He said “There must be synergy between the Army, Air Force and other security agencies towards tackling the menace,”.

“The governors in North-West and North-Central zones can’t do anything because they don’t have the expertise or knowledge of fighting, it is the soldiers that are trained to fight.

“I, therefore, urge the Army, the Air Force to go back to their drawing board and strategize and fashion out how to synergize.

“Our role is to provide logistics and necessary support to enable them to succeed to arrest the situation.”
