The Need for Unity, Cohesiveness and Peace being Our Priority – Ekiti PDP Secretary Funmi Ogun

Ekiti State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon(Mrs)Ogun Funmilayo Theresa, popularly known as OFT, has called for Unity and peace among the party members in the state.

Mrs Ogun,  a former Commissioner for Works and Transportation, said peace can solve the conflicts and differences within the party.

The statement signed by her reads as follows:

“Peace does not mean an absence of conflicts; differences will always be there. Peace means solving these differences through peaceful means; through dialogue, education, knowledge; and through humane ways.” She quoted Dalai Lama’s words.

“There has been no greater time for the message of peace other than the times we find ourselves in. As a party riddled with unending conflicts and finding ourselves torn between loyalty and interests, there is a need for a re-assessment of our common goals.

“This is coupled with the foundational principles which the Party’s constitution has always preached, vis Promoting and establishing political stability in Nigeria and fostering national unity and integration while safeguarding our culture and our values; which emphasizes the need for unity.

“Apposite to mention is the fact that we are in the middle of two bigger challenges before us; the first of which is to secure the mandate of the Country back to our great party which starts from our home front as well as pitching our tents with the people of Ekiti to see the need why PDP will continuously be the better party in terms of promoting unity, development and oneness within the state.

“It is consequent upon this that there is the need for redefining our aspirations which must first of all be for the common ground of everyone within the party and ensure that unity is ensured across all boards and within all levels in the party, as this shall further give us a leveraging opportunity and ground in the forthcoming elections where various aspirants of the party shall be securing their mandates and take up elective positions, as well as maintaining our stand by winning the state for the Presidential Elections that is scheduled to take place very soon.

“More importantly, is a fact that our need for unison must be seen and felt by all, be it old standing and incoming members of the party and the feeling of belonging at home within the party, hence our resolve to pursue unity at all costs.

“It is on this note that I, therefore, charge us to continually pursue unity and embrace dialogue in the midst of our present challenges by forming a formidable team set for coming battles ahead of us which must be conquered”, Mrs Ogun said.
