N-Power Speaks on Thumb Printing and How Applicants Follow Official Channels

N-Power, the federal government’s social empowerment programme for young graduates, has dismissed the rumour that there is a thumb printing exercise going on for prospective beneficiaries.

The scheme urged applicants to disregard any such information and stay updated through its official social media platforms.

N-Power is one of the initiatives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government to create jobs and reduce poverty among Nigerian youths.

The programme involves posting graduates to schools, medical centres, and farms across the country, where they receive a monthly stipend of N30,000. So far, three batches of beneficiaries have been enrolled in the N-Power scheme.

The federal government has also announced that it is redesigning the programme to accommodate at least five million youths in various sectors of the economy.

However, some unscrupulous elements have been spreading false information about a thumb printing exercise for N-Power applicants, which is not true.

In a tweet-reply on its official handle, the scheme said:

“Kindly note that there is no thumbprint going on.

“Please stay tuned on all our active social media platforms, as that is where you will get any latest information. Best Regards.”

The scheme also assured its eligible beneficiaries that they will receive their outstanding stipends soon. It said that the minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation, Betta Edu, and the N-Power national programme manager, Akindele Egbuwalo, “are effortlessly working on resolving all payment issues”.

Moreover, the scheme clarified that it does not have any information regarding the NEXIT, which is a purported package for N-Power beneficiaries. It advised applicants to ignore any rumours about the NEXIT and follow only the official channels for authentic information.
