Nigeria intelligence services locate Sunday Igboho

The Intelligence community in Nigeria have located the hideout of Yoruba FreedomFighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Newsflash Nigeria had reported that the DSS had raided the residence of Igboho in Soka, Ibadan on July 1, 2021.

After the raid, the secret police paraded 12 of Igboho’s followers in Abuja, saying one other was being profiled.

The DSS who said two of Igboho’s guards were killed during a gun duel, declared Igboho wanted.

It said a joint team of security operatives raided Igboho’s residence early on Thursday, July 1, based on an intelligence report that he was stockpiling arms.

“A team of joint security operatives raided the residence of Sunday Adeyemo at Soka in Ibadan. This was based on intelligence that he had stockpiled arms in the place,” said DSS spokesman, Peter Afunaya.

Afunaya added that the team searched the house and subsequently recovered seven AK-47 assault rifles, three pump action guns, 30 fully charged AK-47 magazines, 5,000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, five cutlasses, one Jack knife, one pen knife, two pistol holsters, a pair of binoculars, a wallet containing $5, local and international driving licences in his name, ATM cards, a German residence permit No. YO2N6K1NY bearing his name; two whistles, 50 cartridges and 18 walkie-talkies.

Others are three charm jackets/traditional body armour, two laptops, one Toshiba and one Compaq laptop and his passport and those of many others.

But Igboho, who has since denied the claims said the weapons were planted by the DSS.

In a chat with Daily Post on Tuesday night, a source close to federal authorities said the government already identified his hiding place.

“Many people are yet to fully understand the meaning of Federal Government. Few days after Igboho’s place was breached, intelligence services detected his exact spot.

“No one should underestimate the powers that the government of any country wields. If this secessionist thinks he’s hiding, that thought should be erased.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria knows where he is but they are restraining from taking him in due to tactical reasons.”

Asked what he meant by “tactical reasons”, the informant said the government is being careful not to increase the tension in the South-West and the country.

A source confirmed that Igboho is still in Nigeria and keeping safe, Daily Post reports.

“They want to arrest him. He is laying low which is the right thing to do. We continue to monitor developments”, he added.
