Sunday Igboho working with Boko Haram financier Surajo Abubakar – AGF Malami

The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho is working to destabilise Nigeria with Boko Haram financier Surajo Abubakar, sentenced to life imprisonment at the United Arab Emirate.

In a press briefing on Friday, the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, said a company belonging to Mr Igboho was involved in financial transactions with Mr Abubakar’s company.

“Investigation reveals that Adesun International Concept Ltd (belonging to Igboho) transferred the sum of twelve million seven hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N12,750,000) to Abbal Bako & Sons,” Mr Malami said.

He added that “It might be recalled that Abbal Bako & Sons and its promoter Abdullahi Umar Usman are suspects in the ongoing joint terrorist financing investigation.

“Abdullahi Umar Usman is by way of financial transaction connected to Surajo Abubakar Muhammad (who was sentenced to life imprisonment in UAE on charges of financing terrorism (Boko Haram).”

Mr Malami further said the financial transaction between Mr Igboho and Mr Abubakar’s company “shows the nexus between separatists’ agitation, terrorism financing, and disruptions of peace in the country.”

Rehashing President Muhammadu Buhari’s claim that a lawmaker is funding terrorism in the country, Mr Malami said a Federal lawmaker was funding Mr Igboho’s company.

For rising against Fulani herdsmen menace in Oyo State and planning a Yoruba Nation rally, the Department of Security Service (DSS) in July attacked Igboho’s home, killing two and arresting about 13 of his family members.

Igboho, who was declared wanted by the DSS, was arrested by Beninois police while trying to travel out to Germany.
