PDP NWC holds meeting with Ekiti aspirants, Fayose, Olujimi groups

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by the party National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu and some governors, Monday, hold a meeting with the Ekiti State stakeholders, governorship aspirants and leaders after a recess which was necessitated by the Yuletide season.

The meeting between the NWC and governorship aspirants/stakeholders in Ekiti with the sole aim of addressing matters arising and reconciliation of stakeholders of PDP in the state was first held on December 20 2021 after which it was adjourned to December 21 2021 and further adjourned to today Monday, January 3 2022.

Recall that the stakeholders meeting was held in Abuja on December 20 and 21, 2021, in which it was established that there were only two groups that had a crisis in the party in Ekiti State.

The two groups are; the Osoko Political Assembly (OPA) led by former Governor Ayo Fayose and the Repositioning Group (RG) led by the Senator representing Ekiti South, Biodun Olujimi.

The PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu and other leaders of the party directive a seven-man committee, comprising of Fayose and two persons from his group as well as Olujimi and two persons from her group to settle their rift.

Newsflash Nigeria gathered the two groups met in Lagos last Monday, December 27, 2021. The former governor Segun Oni was said to have been allowed to attend the meeting as an observer.

The PDP Deputy Governorship candidate in the 2018 election, Hon Deji Ogunsakin and former House of Representatives member, Hon Segun Adekola represented the Fayose group in the meeting while former Senator, Duro Faseyi and Otunba Yinka Akerele represented the Olujimi group.

Newsflash Nigeria gathered that there is an ongoing meeting in Abuja where the report of settlement between the two groups will be presented to the party leadership.

Those leaders from Ekiti State include former governors of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose, Segun Oni and Senator Abiodun Olujimi. Others are former Deputy Governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola, former HOR member Segun Adekola, The PDP Deputy Governorship candidate in the 2018 election, Hon Deji Ogunsakin, Kayode Adaramodu amongst other aspirants and stakeholders.
