Nollywood Actor Sylvester Madu Miraculously Escapes Death As Gunmen Storm Drinking Bar, Kill Four

Nollywood actor Sylvester Madu, who is popularly known for his role as Shina Rambo, had a close shave with death on Saturday night when some gunmen attacked a bar in Cameroon where he was having fun with some friends.

The actor, who recently made news after he was seen selling second-hand clothes in a market in Southeast Nigeria, was in Bamenda, Cameroon, for a movie shoot on drug abuse awareness.

According to a statement by DAMA Films, the film company that invited Madu to Cameroon on November 23, 2023, the actor was invited to make a guest appearance at BIG G VIP, a snooker club located at Mile 3 Nkwen, where a championship was taking place.

The statement said that everything was going well until around 10 pm, when gunshots were heard from outside the club, causing panic and chaos among the patrons. Four people were killed and over ten others were injured in the attack.

The statement added that the police intervened and secured the safety of Madu and dispersed the crowd. The police also assured the film company that they were investigating the incident and that they would ensure the safe return of Madu to Nigeria.

The statement did not reveal the identity or motive of the gunmen, but Cameroon has been experiencing a violent conflict between the government and separatist rebels in the Anglophone regions, including Bamenda, since 2016. The conflict has claimed thousands of lives and displaced millions of people.

“DAMA Films received Nollywood actor Sylvester Madu on November 23 2023, in Bamenda for a movie shoot advocating against hard drug addiction.

“While concluding the movie, we received an invite for a guest appearance at BIG G VIP, located at Mile 3 Nkwen. At past 10 pm, we heard gunshots from outside, and many ran helter-skelter, leading to the deaths of four civilians and over 10 wounded.
