NANS Rejects Tuition Fees Hike In Ekiti University, Gives Gov Oyebanji, Olanipekun 72 Hours To Reverse It

The apex body of Nigerian students, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the unjustified increase of tuition fees payable by the newly admitted students in Ekiti State University to over N100,000, describing it as unacceptable.

The association gave Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Edward Olanipekun to reverse the tuition fee within 72 hours or face the wrath of the Nigerian students.

NANS in a statement issued by its Vice President, Akinteye Babatunde which was dated March 28, described the decision of the school management to increase tuition fees at this time considering the economic situation of the country was unjustifiable and cruelty of its highest order.

Babatunde maintained that NANS is a responsive and ideological Student body, “we wish to state categorically that we won’t fold our arms and let this satanic increments stand.

“In furtherance to that, we call on the state government under the leadership of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, and all concerned stakeholders to as a matter of urgency look into this critical issue and reverse the anti-students decision within 72hrs.

“On this note, the entire students’ Union body in Ekiti State, NANS JCC EKITI AXIS, NANS ZONE D, NANS NATIONAL BODY and all well meaning Nigerian students are hereby notified of our intention to relocate the Secretariat of the National Association of Nigerian Students to Ekiti State University after the expiration of the 72hr ultimatum.”
