Mother kidnaps her daughter, demands N3 million ransom

A 25-year-old mother has reportedly kidnapped her six-year-old daughter in Madobi Local Government, Kano State, and demanded three million Naira as a ransom.

Newsflash Nigeria understands that the woman took her daughter to a hideout for calling her husband that his daughter was kidnapped and demanded the ransom.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel disclosed this on Thursday while parading 16 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, and drug dealers within the Kano metropolis and some surrounding LGAs of the State.

He said the incident happened On 08/05/2023, when one Kabiru Shehu of Sharada Quarters, Kano Municipal Local Government reported that his 25 years divorced wife, Rahma Sulaiman called and informed him that his six-year-old daughter was kidnapped.

She said unknown persons called her through her mobile phone demanding the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000:00k) as ransom.

The commissioner explained that after receiving the report, the police swung into action to rescue the victim and arrest the suspects.

Gumel said that based on a follow-up investigation, the victim was rescued in Madobi LGA and the divorced wife was arrested.

He said the suspect confessed to having planned, took her daughter to a hideout, and demanded the ransom.

He said the investigation was in progress and the suspect would be taken to court.
