Kidnappers Kill Monarch, Abduct Wife, Son, Eight Others in Moddibo Town

A tragic incident occurred in Garin Moddibo town of Taraba state on Monday night, when gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked the residence of the traditional ruler, Alhaji Muhammadu, and killed him.

The gunmen also kidnapped the monarch’s wife, son and four other people from the town, and then proceeded to two nearby villages, where they abducted four more villagers, including a nursing mother.

A source said that the kidnappers invaded the town around 11:30 pm, and targeted the late traditional ruler, who was supporting the youths in the area to protect the community from intruders.

The source said that this might have angered the kidnappers, who decided to eliminate him.

The source also said that hunters led by Dantala Adamu, the state chairman of the Hunters Association, are combing the forests and mountains in search of the abducted persons.

The Chairman of Ardo-Kola local government area, Dalhatu Kawu, confirmed the incident and said that he has reported it to the Taraba State government.

He said that the local government area is under the siege of bandits who are kidnapping people day and night, and that the special police force and hunters are trying their best to restore security.

The spokesman of the Taraba State Police Command, SP Usman Abdullahi, also confirmed the incident and said that investigations are ongoing.
