Iya Gbonkan gets new car from fan after N5m donation
Veteran Yoruba actress, Iya Gbonkan, gets a brand new car from a fan after Nigerians donated over N5 million to her cause.
Veteran Yoruba actress, Margaret Olayinka, popularly known as Iya Gbonkan, received a brand new car from a fan days after she appealed for one on social media.
The 64-year-old thespian, who features majorly in Yoruba movies, had lamented in a viral video that despite being famous and working in the industry for years, she had no car of her own.
Iya Gbonkan said that she still used public transport to move around, pleading with her fans to celebrate her with a new car while she was still alive and not when she was dead.
Her video touched the hearts of many Nigerians who donated generously to her cause. A pastor identified as Gabriel visited her in Osogbo and raised over N5 million from kind-hearted people all over the world for her car and housing project.
In addition, a fan named Mrs Omobolanle Olatise single-handedly donated a car to Iya Gbonkan, making her dream come true.
In a video shared online, Iya Gbonkan was seen test driving her new car while expressing gratitude and prayers to her fans for the new car gifted to her.
She said: “I’m thankful and I don’t have power, you are my backbone, you will not get tired. My matter will not get you tired and you will not be indebted to the good thing you are doing to me. In the name of God, you will have enough to spend. You will not have pain and in the name of God, you will not go blind.”
Other veteran actresses, Abeni Agbon and Tamotiye who lived nearby also came to pay a visit and share in her joy. They also received N500k each from Pastor Gabriel.
