How Two Pastors and a Father Killed a Hunchbacked Man for Rituals in Rivers

The security outfit of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, known as OSPAC, has arrested three men, including two pastors, for allegedly killing a 24-year-old man, Lucky, who had a hunchback. The suspects were caught while trying to escape from Port Harcourt.

According to OSPAC, one of the suspects, Olatoye, 54, was the pastor of a new generation church in Osiakpo, near Omoku. He confessed that Lucky was brought to him by his father, Ejike, and his uncle, Pastor Paul, who wanted to use his hunchback for rituals.

Olatoye said that Paul told him that his brother (Ejike) hated his son because of his hunchback and had tried to sell him before. He said that Paul persuaded him to perform a surgery on Lucky to remove the ‘mercury’ from his hunchback, which they believed had mystical powers.

Olatoye said that he agreed to do the surgery and collected N250,000 from Paul. He said that he took Lucky to a bush where he cut off his hunchback and gave it to Paul. He said that Lucky died from excessive bleeding and they dumped his body in a river.

The Chairman of ONELGA, Ifeanyi Odili, confirmed the incident and said that the suspects had been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution. He said that OSPAC was determined to rid the area of criminals and cultists.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, could not be reached for comment as of the time of writing this report.
