Houses set ablaze in Bauchi, many injured as Muslims searches for another lady insulting Prophet Muhammad

There was tension in Katanga town, Headquarters of Warji local government area of Bauchi State on Friday over another lady allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

NEWSFLASH NIGERIA learnt the lady identified as Mrs Roda Jatau narrowly escaped jungle justice barely one week after a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, Deborah Samuel, was killed.

Mrs Roda Jatau was said to have shared a video in a WhatsApp group in which a convert ‘insulted’ the Prophet of Islam.

According to a source, Mrs Jatau works with the Bauchi State Primary Health Care and is originally from Gombe, but married in Warji local government area.

According to the report, Muslim youths in the area mounted a serious search for the lady immediately after the Jumat prayers but could not find her after she was whisked away to safety by the resident.

Consequently, the irate Muslim youths destroyed properties belonging to Christians in area and set a few buildings ablaze.

NEWSFLASH NIGERIA gathered that several people of Christians including a Pastor of ECWA church were said to have been injured.

However, a Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) leader in the state said he has informed the Commissioner of Police and the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bala Mohammed of the development.

He also called on the Christian community in the state not to allow the situation to degenerate, even though they have to protect themselves from the attackers.

The police are yet to issue a statement at the time of filing this report.
