Guber Poll: Buhari congratulates Adeleke on Osun Election victory

President Muhammadu Buhari congratulates Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), following the victory of the party in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Osun State.

In a statement released on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, saying, the President expresses the conviction that the people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot, and the will of the people must always matter and be respected in a democracy.

“With the election over, the President expresses conviction that the people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot, and the will of the people must always matter and be respected in a democracy.

“President Buhari notes that the successful conduct of the election is further testimony to the maturity and commitment of all stakeholders – the electoral body, security agencies, political parties, the media, civil society and the electorate- to further strengthen the integrity of the electoral process in the country.

“The President reassures the nation that the commitment of this administration towards having credible elections remains unshaken”, Adesina said

Newsflash Nigeria had earlier reported the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, had been declared the winner of the Osun State governorship poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Adeleke beat Governor Gboyega Oyetola with 403,371 votes to 375,027 votes.

Adeleke won in 17 local government areas including Olorunda, Ede South, Orolu, Osogbo, Odo Otin, Ifelodun, Atakumosa, and Ila,

The pioneer National Chairman of the ruling APC, Bisi Akande is from Ila LGA.

Meanwhile, Governor Oyetola won in 13 local government areas including Iwo, Ayedaade, Ife South and Ife East.

The 2022 Osun governorship election took place in all the 30 local government areas of the state with 3,763 polling units and 332 registration areas.

Accord Party came third with 4,508 votes, followed by Labour Party with 2,729 votes, African Action Congress with 2,141 votes and Social Democratic Party with 515 votes.
