Full List: 13 PDP presidential aspirants as Peter Obi picks nomination forms

Ahead of the 2023 Presidential election in Nigeria, about 13 aspirants so far have obtained the nomination forms for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential race.

The former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, picked Presidential nomination forms on Thursday, bringing to 13, the number of aspirants warming up for the primary.

Recall that the opposition party had fixed the Presidential primary to May 28 and 29, 2022.

The opposition party, which had realised N486 million from the sale of forms, has extended form collection from April 1 to April 8.

Yesterday, Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel, a prominent industrialist Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa and former banker Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen picked nomination forms.

Those who obtained presidential nomination forms

  1. Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar;
  2. Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki;
  3. Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim;
  4. Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal;
  5. Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed;
  6. Ovation Publisher, Dele Momodu;
  7. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike;
  8. US-based medical expert, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze;
  9. The only female aspirant, Diana Oliver;
  10. Akwa Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel;
  11. A prominent industrialist, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa
  12. Former banker, Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen
  13. Former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi

Recall that the party produced a total of 12 presidential aspirants in 2019 before it picked Atiku at its convention held in Port Harcourt in 2018.

Meanwhile, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has extended the sale of nomination forms for all offices from the initial deadline of April 1 to April 8, 2022.

The National Organising Secretary of the party, Umar Bature, made this known in a statement titled: ‘Extension of sales of forms and rescheduling of screening exercises’.

It reads: “The last day for the Return of already completed Forms and Screening Exercises for both the State House of Assembly and National Assembly (Senate and House of Representatives) are rescheduled” to April 10, 2022, while the screening of State of House of Assembly and National Assembly aspirants was also moved to April 12 and 14, 2022 respectively.

“State House of Assembly Expression of Interest: N100,000; Nomination Form, N500,000. House of Representatives: Expression of Interest, N500,000; Nomination Form, N2,000,000.

“Senate: Expression of Interest, N500,000; Nomination Form, N3,000,000. Governorship: Expression of Interest, N1,000,000; Nomination Form, 20,000,000.

“President: Expression of Interest N5,000,000; Nomination Form, N35,000,000.”
