Nigerian Army Commander Exposes Disloyal Soldiers and Demands Their Resignation

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Mohammed Takuti Usman, on Wednesday urged soldiers to remain loyal to President Bola Tinubu and the constituted authority, at all times. He made this call while addressing soldiers at the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The GOC stressed the importance of professionalism, discipline and loyalty in the military, especially in the wake of recent coup attempts in some African countries, such as Gabon. He warned that the Nigerian Armed Forces would not tolerate any act of disloyalty or insubordination from its ranks.

He said: “You have to be loyal soldiers. Your loyalty must start with the Commander in chief of the Armed Forces who is the President. That’s first, and then down the ladder.

“ Loyalty to the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, down to your Brigade Commander. There is no room for soldiers that are not loyal to the constituted authority, no. If you are not going to be loyal, then, leave, go and do other work. But the Armed Forces cannot stand it if you are not loyal.”

He also acknowledged that there are some challenges facing the Brigade Command, but assured that they are not peculiar and that they would be resolved soon. He advised the soldiers to be hardworking and diligent in their duties and courses, saying that this would help them grow in their careers.

The GOC also commissioned a Quarter Guard project at the Barrack and visited the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, who expressed his support and appreciation for the GOC and the Nigerian Army. He said that Nigeria would not be a safe place without the presence and sacrifice of the soldiers.
