Ekiti Boosts Power Supply with New and Rehabilitated Projects

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has inaugurated several projects that have improved the power supply situation in the state.

The projects include a new 19km 33KV line that connects the 132KV TCN Sub-Station at Omosanjana to Erijiyan, and a rehabilitated 33KV line that serves the Ikogosi-Ekiti industrial and tourism zone.

The Governor commissioned these projects today as part of his administration’s commitment to address the electricity challenges in the state.

The projects were necessitated by the long-term power outages that affected many Ekiti communities for up to 15 years.

The lack of reliable electricity hampered the development of key sectors such as tourism and industry, especially the Ikogosi Warm Spring and Resorts and the Gossy Bottling Company.

Moreover, the 140MVA transformer at the 132KV TCN Sub-Station at Omisanjana was not fully utilised due to the absence of an adequate transmission network.

To solve these problems and optimise the 140KV supply from the national grid, Governor Oyebanji’s government embarked on the construction of a 5km 33KV line from Omisanjana to Baptist High School in Ado Ekiti, which linked to the existing Ilawe line.

The government also built a 14km 33KV line from Ilawe to Erijiyan Ekiti, and renovated the existing 33KV line from Erijiyan to Ikogosi-Ekiti.

These projects have enabled the full utilisation of the 140MVA transformer at Omisanjana, and provided a stable power supply to the communities in the targeted zone. This has improved the quality of life and boosted the economic potential of the residents and the state at large.

Governor Oyebanji has made improved electricity supply a key priority of his development agenda, as it is essential for his industrialisation goals and economic development plans.
