Ekiti 2022: Don’t come and campaign in our jurisdiction – Ekiti South threats Oni, Kolawole, Oyebanji, others

Ekiti South Senatorial District agenda has warned the other zones; Ekiti Central and the North in the state to stay away from campaigning in the south ahead of the 2022 governorship election.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Coordinator Ekiti South Development Agenda, Idowu Afuye said the aspirants either chosen or anointed candidates of major political parties outside the Senatorial district to stay away from campaigning in Ekiti south.

Recall that the Southern senatorial zone was yet to produce the governor of the state since the return of democracy in 1999.

Ekiti south development agenda Group who are insisting that Ekiti South Senatorial District in the State should be given equal opportunity to serve the State.

The group said the south has the calibre of aspirants from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gives a Pointer to the resolve of this Group to ensure the South Produces the next Governor of the State.

But Afuye, the coordinator of the group warned either chosen or anointed candidates of major political parties outside the Senatorial district to stay away from campaigning in Ekiti south.

 “The Ekiti south development agenda a group committed to making a person of Ekiti south extraction become governor in 2022, has warned either chosen or anointed candidates of major political parties outside the Senatorial district to stay away from campaigning in Ekiti south.

“The group said it has started mobilisation and sensitisation towards such moves as Ekiti state belongs to all, and a certain senatorial district cannot be sidelined and treated like a political leper”, the coordinator said.

Some of the aspirants in the South from PDP include Senator Biodun Olujimi; former Deputy Governor, Prof Kolapo Olusola Eleka; and a former bank chief, Mr Kayode Adaramodu.

Also, the aspirants from APC include former Minister of Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Austrilian Medical expert, Dr Oluwole Oluyede, House of Reps Member, Rt (Hon) Femi Bamisile, DG office of Transformation and Strategy in Ekiti State, Bolaji Aluko, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Hon Bamidele Faparusi.

The state governor, Kayode Fayemi and his wife, Bisi are alleged to back the aspiration of the former Secretary to the State Government, Biodun Oyebanji under the platform of the APC.

Oyebanji hails from Ikogosi Ekiti in Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

Newsflash Nigeria gathered that the supporters of Biodun Oyebanji will welcome him on Friday, December 10, in Ikere-Ekiti, the headquarters of Ekiti South Senatorial District on the arrival from Abuja after obtaining his party nomination form to contest the forthcoming 2022 Ekiti governorship election.

Similarly, the former governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose had endorsed the immediate State Chairman of the PDP, Otunba Bisi Kolawole, under the platform of the PDP.

Kolawole hails from Efon Ekiti in Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

Both the two leaders of the major parties have endorsed their candidates from Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

Apart from two leaders who anointed their candidates outside the south senatorial district, some strong aspirants also contesting outside the Southern zone include the former governor of the state, Segun Oni, current senator representing Central, Senator Micheal Opeyemi (MOB), Kayode Ojo, Demola Popoola, Wale Aribisala, Yinka Akerele, Lateef Ajijola and others.
