Tupac Shakur’s Alleged Killer Indicted After 27 Years

The mystery of who killed Tupac Shakur, one of the most influential rap artists of all time, may finally be solved. A Nevada grand jury has indicted Duane “Keffe D” Davis, a 60-year-old gang member, on a charge of murder with the use of a deadly weapon.

Davis is the uncle of Orlando Anderson, a rival of Tupac who was involved in a fight with the rapper and his entourage at the MGM Grand casino in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996.

Later that night, Tupac was shot four times in a drive-by shooting while riding in a car with Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight. He died six days later at the age of 25.

Anderson was long suspected of being the gunman, but he denied any involvement and was never charged. He was killed in 1998 in an unrelated gang shooting.

Davis, who was in the same car as Anderson on the night of Tupac’s murder, confessed in several interviews and in his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” that he knew who pulled the trigger, but refused to name names due to the “street code”.

However, new evidence and witnesses have emerged that led to the indictment of Davis, who is currently serving a life sentence in federal prison for drug trafficking.

The Las Vegas Police Department announced the breakthrough in the case on Friday, after 27 years of investigation. They said they are still looking for other suspects and accomplices in the murder.
