EFCC Nabs “Senator” For Duping Spaniard of €5.7 Million

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the arrest of a fake Senator, Ifechukwu Tom Makwe, who allegedly swindled a Spaniard of €5.7 million (Five Million, Seven Hundred Thousand euros) in a long-running internet fraud scheme.

According to a statement by the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwajeren, Makwe was apprehended at the Guzape area of Abuja after the agency received credible intelligence about his online scam activities.

The statement revealed that Makwe used various aliases (Fahad Makwe, Senator Tompolo, Tom Makwe, Dr. Bran) to impersonate a US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent and a diplomatic solicitor and deceived his victim with fake identities.
