BREAKING: JAMB approves cut-off marks for varsities, polytechnics as Ekiti indigene scored highest mark

The JAMB also revealed that an Ekiti State indigene by the name Adebayo Eyimofe scored the highest mark in the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Thursday, approved the cut-off marks for universities and polytechnics in the country.

The decision was taken after a heated session comprising officials from JAMB, the Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission, and the National Board for Technical Education among others.

For the polytechnics, 120 cut-off mark was approved while 140 was approved for universities

After a mild disagreement, an ongoing meeting between JAMB and heads of tertiary institutions also adopted 100 as the cut-off mark for colleges of education for the admission year.

Professor Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB’s Registrar, who announced the cut-off said every institution has the right to fix its cut-off mark even up to 220 but no one would be allowed to go less than the agreed minimum marks of 100 for Colleges of Education, 120 for Polytechnics and 140 for Universities.

He further revealed that a total of 378,639 of the 1,761,338 who wrote the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) scored 200 and above.

The JAMB also revealed that an Ekiti State indigene by the name Adebayo Eyimofe scored the highest mark in the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

This was disclosed during the 2022 policy meeting of the board currently held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

According to a presentation by the registrar of the board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Adebayo who wrote his examination in Abuja, scored a total of 362 marks.

He was followed closely by Ugwu Chikelu, an indigene of Enugu state who also wrote his UTME in Abuja. Ugwu scored 359.

Other high scorers include Igbalaye Ebunoluwa 357; Emmanuel Oluwanifemi 357; Ozumba Samuel 357; Olumide-Attah Ayomide 355; Lawal Olaoluwa 355; Dokun Jubril 354; Amaku Anthony 354 and Aghulor Divine 353.
