Tinubu orders DSS to leave EFCC office in Lagos

President Bola Tinubu has intervened in the dispute between the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over a building in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The building, located on Awolowo Road, houses the office of the EFCC and some facilities of the DSS.

On Tuesday morning, DSS operatives reportedly blocked the entrance of the building and prevented EFCC officials from entering.

The DSS claimed that the building belonged to them and that they had been sharing it with the EFCC for over 20 years.

The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the incident and said it was “strange” that the DSS would suddenly lay siege to their office.

However, the DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, denied that they barricaded the EFCC office. He said they only moved some equipment into their own section of the building.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Tunde Rahman, on Tuesday evening, Tinubu said he had directed the DSS to vacate the EFCC office immediately.

He said he was aware of the reports and that he would ensure that the matter was resolved amicably between the two agencies. He said both agencies were important for the security and anti-corruption efforts of his administration.
