BREAKING: Ekiti Speaker, Funminiyi Afuye, is dead

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Funminiyi Afuye is dead, Newsflash Nigeria learnt.

According to the report, the speaker died on Wednesday evening.

Rt. Hon Afuye died Wednesday evening at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado- Ekiti, where he was receiving treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The late Speaker was seen in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday participating in government activities with the new Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.

Hon. Afuye, 66, is representing Ikere Constituency 2 in the state House of Assembly.

He was the former Majority Leader of the House of Assembly under the administration of Engr. Segun Oni and served as Commissioner of Information and later Intergovernmental Affairs during Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s first administration in Ekiti.

He returned to the State House of Assembly in 2019 with the second advent of Fayemi in Ekiti and became the Speaker.

The death of the Late Speaker has caused a huge shock within Ekiti State political and government circles. It is said that one of his children is getting married this weekend in Lagos.
