Avoid Ekiti roads for now – FRSC advises Abuja, Lagos travellers

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised the motoring public travelling from Abuja and Lagos to avoid the Ekiti route due to the bad roads in the state.

The FRSC said the motoring should travel through Ondo State from Abuja to ply Akure-Ondo-Ife-Ibadan or Lagos-Ibadan-Ife-Ondo-Ore-Benin and avoid the Ekiti roads.

The Acting Corps Marshal, FRSC, Dauda Biu, said this in a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO) Mr Bisi Kazeem on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said that the advisory had become necessary because the Igbara-Oke-Ilara-Mokin route is totally blocked at the moment.

The agency advised vehicle owners and commuters from Abuja, via Ondo, to ply Akure-Ondo-Ife-Ibadan or Lagos-Ibadan-Ife-Ondo-Ore-Benin.

Those travelling from Lagos and other parts in the South-West, also through Ondo, to the North, were asked to ply the same route.

Biu assured that operatives and logistics have been adequately deployed to ensure the speedy removal of the obstructions on that route for ease of movement.

Factors including bad roads and the heavy floods Nigerians are witnessing, the worst in a decade, have made some routes impassable.
