Alleged Criminal in Kano Becomes Police Constabulary After Being Declared Wanted

A man who was declared wanted by the Kano State Police Command for his alleged involvement in criminal activities has joined the Nigeria Police Force as a police constabulary.

The man, identified as Nasiru Abdullahi, also known as Chile Maidoki, was among the 10,000 police constabularies undergoing six-month long training exercise to enhance community policing across the country.

He was seen in some trending pictures with a senior police officer at one of the Police Colleges and Training Schools.

Abdullahi was one of the three notorious criminals who were declared wanted by the Kano command in August, with a bounty of N100,000 each.

However, he turned himself in at the Bompai headquarters of the command few days after the announcement.

According to a statement by Abdullahi Kiyawa, the police spokesperson in Kano, Abdullahi reported himself to the commissioner of police and confessed to his crimes.

He was quoted as saying that he used to sleep “at burial ground yards in Kano city just to evade detection by security personnel”.

He also appealed to the police and the public to forgive him, saying that he had repented and was ready to work with the police to promote peace and development in the state.

He was therefore not to be arrested by the police or stigmatised by the public.

The statement also said that the remaining two wanted criminals, Abba Burakita of Dorayi Quarters and Hantar Daba of Kwanar Disu, were still at large and urged anyone with credible information on their whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.
