2023: APC reveals best candidate to succeed Buhari

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed the best candidate to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.

In a statement issued on Monday by Lagos State APC chairman-elect, Cornelius Ojelabi shortly after the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu declared his interest to join the 2023 presidential race.

Newsflash Nigeria had earlier reported that the former Lagos State governor Bola Tinubu on Monday had informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his decision to run for the presidency in 2023.

Tinubu disclosed this after he met with Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Mr Ojelabi in a statement he admitted that the former governor of Lagos is the most suitable replacement for Buhari.

He commended Tinubu for informing President Buhari of his ambition, noting that the presidential hopeful can now make more consultations nationwide.

He said: “Informing the President of his intention is the right thing to do.”

Mr Ojelabi added: “Having informed him officially now he can then intensify his consultations across the country.”

Tinubu had on Monday ended speculations on his presidential ambition.

While the reporters asked him on President Buhari recently said he does not want to divulge his favourite for the APC 2023 presidential ticket. Have you informed him about your ambition?

“I answer that with categorical yes. I’ve informed the President of my intention but I have not informed Nigerians yet. I’m still consulting. And I have no problem consulting. And I’ve noticed that there is a parameter of limitation to the extent of how many people I will consult,” Tinubu had said earlier.

Reacting to Tinubu’s comment, Ojelabi said the politician has paid his dues and no one was more qualified than the former governor to take over leadership at the expiration of Mr Buhari’s tenure in 2023.

According to him, the teeming followers of Mr Tinubu and members of the ruling party across the length and breadth of the country and the diaspora were elated with the news.
