Wike Walks Past Akpabio After Security Snub at Aso Villa – Video

A video has emerged online showing the moment former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike walked past his former colleague Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, who was stopped by security operatives from entering one of the offices assigned to Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Aso Villa, Abuja.

The incident happened on Monday, June 5, 2023, when President Bola Tinubu held a meeting with some former governors at his office in the Presidential Villa1234.

Wike, who came with former Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi and Akpabio, was seen walking away smartly after the security agents prevented Akpabio from accessing one of the offices.

Akpabio is the preferred candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the position of Senate President, while Umahi, who recently left office, is a Senator-elect.

Wike and Umahi had met with Tinubu on Friday last week, though they came separately and with different companions.

Wike came with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and former Delta State Governor James Ibori, while Umahi came with the newly appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.

Wike had told journalists after the Friday meeting that he discussed national issues with Tinubu and that he was there to show support to the president.

There are speculations that Wike may be considered for a ministerial position due to the role he played in the February 25 presidential election that brought Tinubu to power despite being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
