Court remands killer of two Ekiti traditional rulers

In a significant development, the Ekiti State Police have brought to court Bubuga Lede, 25, one of the alleged kidnappers accused of the brutal murder of two traditional rulers in the region. The courtroom drama unfolded as the defendant faced charges related to conspiracy, attempted kidnapping, and the chilling murders of Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin and Oba Samuel Olatunde Ishola.

During the proceedings, Police prosecutor Inspector Osuolale Yomi presented a compelling case for the defendant’s remand at the Correctional Custody in Ado-Ekiti for 30 days. The charges against Lede include the attempted kidnapping of Oba Samuel Adebayo Fatoba and Bamidele Ibikunle Joseph, the latter being a driver.

Highlighting the severity of the case, Yomi referred to Sections 280, 241, and 234 of the Criminal Code Law of Ekiti State 2021, emphasizing the gravity of the offenses committed by the defendant. The prosecutor revealed that the arrest took place in Ikole-Ekiti on January 29, with the defendant found in possession of offensive weapons.

As legal proceedings unfolded, the Magistrate, O. F. Bamidele, deemed it necessary to remand the defendant at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Custody for 30 days, awaiting legal advice from the Ekiti State Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The case is scheduled for mention on April 24, marking a pivotal moment in the pursuit of justice for the victims and their families.
