Seyi Makinde who is the Ondo State chairman of the campaign committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State, saying what happened in Bayelsa State could still happen in Ondo.
Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will still control the affairs of Ondo State, saying what happened in Bayelsa State could still happen in Ondo.
Recall that Governor Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had defeated the PDP candidate in the October 10, 2020 Ondo Governorship election, Eyitayo Jegede and his Deputy Governor and candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi, for a second term.
Governor Akeredolu was returned elected after polling the highest number of votes in the keenly-contested poll conducted on Saturday, October 20.
The governor secured 292,830 of the total votes, 97,039 more votes than his closest rival Eyitayo Jegede, who got 195,791 votes.
The incumbent governor won 15 of the 18 Local Government Areas results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while his closest rival, Jegede, won in three local government areas and Ajayi failed to win none, including his LGA where he lost to his principal.
But governor Seyi Makinde who is the Ondo State chairman of the campaign committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State, saying what happened in Bayelsa State could still happen in Ondo.
Makinde disclosed this, on Thursday, at the meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party leaders in the South West held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Makinde, who presided over the meeting, said although the PDP lost the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State to the All Progressives Congress, what happened in Bayelsa State could still happen in Ondo.
He said, “In Ondo State, during the last election, it is not as if the people of the state don’t like our party or candidate, it was the party structure that failed to do the needful all over, which made us be where we are currently.
“But I believe in God and I will tell you why. We were in this same position in Bayelsa.
“The governor-elect was already rehearsing before they brought him a letter that he is going nowhere. If you know how to pray, keep praying because I know there is nothing God cannot do, even in Ondo State for PDP.”
