What’s keyword research?

Keyword research is a branch in SEO that focuses on optimizing an article, or any content published on your site, with the best suitable keywords that drives much traffic to your site. Without much effort (easy to rank keywords).

Keyword Research

In keyword research they are some terms that are commonly used, these include;

(1) Easy-to-rank keywords: Easy-to-rank keywords are keywords that you can easily rank with less effort or work.

(2) Long Tail Keywords: a search query like ”what is the full meaning of SEO” is an example of long tail keywords while quarries like ‘‘SEO’’ are a short keyword which is extremely hard to rank for, considering competition.

Long tail keywords are always easier to rank than the short ones.  As a beginner, your focus should always be to rank long tail keywords (easy to rank keywords).

Keyword research tends to be primary aspect of SEO. How could you rank a keyword without your prospects searching for it? How could you rank your target keywords that are extremely above your authority score (your page level or score)? How could you rank for keywords that suite your niche? How could you rank for easy-to-rank keywords? That’s what keyword research does.

It ensures that you find the best suitable keywords for your article (the ones your audience are searching) and rank it with less work-done.

#keyword research is the process of exploring the best keyword match for any content, evaluating your potential to rank it and finding best alternative keywords to rank.

In keyword research we have;

#1-page rank (pr) – this is simply the overall performance of a page. The rank is used to evaluate the probability of you ranking for the keyword; weighing the PageRank of your competitors ranking for the same keywords. With high score above the average, it means you can rank for the keyword considering everything to being equal.

#2-CPC and PPC (cost/pay per click). CPC/PPC measures the amount you have to pay or earn on each click respectively. This is used when running an advert for your blog/site target keywords or as a publisher.

To rank for a keyword you need to explore the sites or blogs ranking for the keywords, evaluate their page score or rank, their backlinks, compare it to yours to know if you can beat them and take their position.

If their page rank and backlinks is above yours, try going to similar and less competitive keywords or long tail keywords…

That’s the easiest way to do keyword research.

You can use Semrush (Premium tool), Google Adword keyword planner (free), Moz (Pro), Ahrefs (Pro), Kwfinder (free) and other tools for your keyword research.
