VIDEO: Residents Attack Warehouse In Kwara, Cart Away COVID-19 Palliatives
Kwara residents on Friday evening attacked a warehouse where COVID-19 palliatives are kept in Ilorin, the state capital, Newsflash247 reports.
The warehouse, located around the Ilorin International Airport, opposite Oando filling station, is believed to be owned by the Kwara State government.
After the residents gained entrance into the warehouse housing food items stored, they carted some COVID-19 palliatives.
Video footages and pictures obtained by Newsflash247 show people stealing food items like noodles, spaghetti, rice, sugar and garri.
People used motorcycles and buses to transport looted items from the warehouse to their respective homes.
According to one of the people at the scene who spoke to newsmen, they believe the government will not eventually share the palliatives to people but want to keep them till 2023 as campaign materials.
“We thank God for this discovery. Could you imagine these politicians hiding these food items meant for distribution to the poor masses during the COVID-19 pandemics,” he said
This comes a day after a similar incident occurred in Lagos and a few hours after the same happened in Osun State.
Telephone calls put across to the spokespersons of the Kwara State Governor and the police command in the state was not immediately responded to.
